Directions: From Ballina take the N59 for 11km to Crossmolina.  Continue for a further 9km signposted Bangor Erris, turn right onto the L5292 continue for a further 3km whereupon the lands can be found on the right hand side

THE LANDS:

Mainly blanket bog, which has a characteristic grassy appearance, commonly classified as valuable wetlands providing a vital habitat for wild life, flora and fauna and rare plant species.  Blanket Bogs are suited to rough grazing for sheep / cattle and country pursuits including shooting and fishing.  Furthermore, blanket bogs accumulate and store millions of tonnes of carbon and have an important role in controlling the greenhouse gases that are responsible for climate change.
